Best Ways to Wear Orange This Season

Best Ways to Wear Orange This Season
From Pantone’s color of the year to Dr. Seuss’s Lorax, 2012 is all about the orange, and we’ve rounded up some of the trend’s best fresh-squeezed looks.

Stephanie Johnson Cosmetic Pouches
These sunny pouches in crinkly, vivid orange patent leather are sure to inspire bright ideas during your daily makeup routine. Supremely versatile, they go way beyond stashing cosmetics. We use them to hold everything from hair accessories and jewelry to a mini first-aid kit. There are even glamorous gold wristlet bands to accessorize them with for an extra five bucks -- instantly transforming a travel pouch into a mini clutch that’s perfectly sized to hold the bare essentials (credit card, keys and lipstick) during a day at the beach or a night out dancing. Talk about working overtime.

Get it now: Stephanie Johnson ‘Malibu Orange’ cosmetic pouches, from $30 at stephaniejohnson.com

Ann Taylor Cargo Shirt
We’ve got a major orange crush on this look. Noted as a favorite pick of Ann Taylor spokesperson Kate Hudson (who also just happens to be our girl crush), this sophisticated update on the can’t-go-wrong cargo blouse is sure to wake up all the basics in your wardrobe. Sporty snaps, sleek epaulettes and a clean jewel neckline add up to one standout style staple. We adore it even more after finding out it’s machine washable!

Get it now: Ann Taylor cargo shirt, $88 at anntaylor.com

Yves Saint Laurent Glossy Stain
Orange has got to be the happiest hue under the sun, so where better way to wear it than to brighten your smile? A swipe of citrus lip color is possibly the easiest way to get in on the tangerine trend. And thanks to this innovative new buildable glossy stain by Yves Saint Laurent, you don’t have to choose between a lip gloss, a lipstick and a lip stain: It smartly combines all options into one.

Get it now: Yves Saint Laurent ‘Rouge Pur Couture Vernis a Levres Glossy Stain’ in #8 Orange de Chine, $32 at sephora.com

J.crew Silk-Cashmere Wrap
Can a wrap make you happy? Here’s evidence. We’re always reaching for a scarf or shawl during in-between-seasons weather, and lately we’ve swapped out our old stand-by for this new favorite in vibrant orange. We’re obsessed with its perfection: the luxurious silk-cashmere blend, a seasonless weight, and the generous size that make it extra-versatile from A.M. to P.M. all year long. And call it a coincidence, but we’ve somehow been feeling just that extra bit cheerier since it became our BFF.

Get it now: J.Crew silk-cashmere wrap in cerise (71” l x 31”w), $75 at jcrew.com

Lipault Foldable Suitcase
Forget struggling to distinguish your black bag from all the others on the luggage carousel with this colorful tangerine case. It gets better: The prize detail is a compact, space-saving design that allows this bag to magically fold up flat for streamlined stashing. Crafted in France of durable, water-resistant nylon, the style-savvy suitcase has a retractable handle and sleek wheels to keep you constantly looking pulled together while on the go.

Get it now: Lipault ‘Soft 0% Foldable’ 22-in. carry-on suitcase, $189 at lipault-us.com

Skywatch Three-Hand Watch
Time to live a little more colorfully. The season’s hottest hue reveals its sporty side on this unisex, Swiss-made watch that’s water resistant to one hundred meters. Premium details like fine quartz moment, photo luminescent graphics and scratch-resistant crystal make it an investment piece that will give you no excuses for being fashionably late for seasons to come. Pair it with a flouncy skirt, a suit or jeans.

Get it now: Skywatch three-hand watch with 38 millimeter bezel, $295 at skywatchsite.com

Tory Burch Cat-Eye Sunglasses
Oversized cat-eye sunnies are the cat’s meow this season, and you’ll have it made in the shade with this sleek, understated pair by Tory Burch that make the citrus color trend completely wearable. We love the frame’s rounded, just-oversized-enough feminine shape with a slightly retro vibe that’s not over the top (tricky with cat-eyes). But what’s genius is the transparent plastic infused with brilliant citrus trim, so the sunglasses flicker with pops of bright orange as you move.

Get it now: Tory Burch rounded cat-eye sunglasses, $149 at toryburch.com

Emilio Cavallini Ruffle Dress
The year’s official color is made for spontaneity and serious flirting, so this story wouldn’t be complete without one saucy little dress. Let’s just be clear: This fun-loving, Italian-made frock is designed for frill-seekers. It’s a statement, but slip it over a t-shirt, add flats and a skinny belt and you’ll live in it all summer long, swear! The layered ruffles make it surprisingly wearable by camouflaging figure flaws, and the fabric is super-stretchy and comfy. No surprise, since the Italian designer is known for his high-end tights.

Get it now: Emilio Cavallini Ruffle Dress, $147 emiliocavallini.com

Demeter Tangerine Massage & Body Oil
All this orange color obsession has us dreaming about the scent of tangerines. So we turned to Demeter, known for their fun fragrances that capture some of our favorite everyday scents. After inhaling eau de...Orange Juice, Sweet Orange, Orange Cream Pop and even Sex On The Beach South Beach (with a twist of tangy Florida Orange, of course), we finally settled on the straight-up essence of Tangerine, inspired by tangy mandarin oranges. Body oils are the latest Demeter launch, and this uplifting scent is perfect to slather on in the A.M. for an extra wake-up call.

Eco Friendly Chic Styles

Eco Friendly Chic Styles
From eco-friendly fashions to green jewelry, we’ve rounded up the most stylish Earth Day-approved finds out there.

Lemlem scarf & bracelet
Online gift boutique Indigo works with independent artisans to create handcrafted products under fair-trade conditions.
How happy were we to find one of our fave accessories labels, Lemlem by Liya Kebede, created to support the economic independence of artisans in the actress-model’s native country, Ethiopia.
This striped wrap scarf with the line’s signature fluorescent accents is hand woven in 100% cotton with natural dyes. Incredibly versatile, the seasonless scarf also works as a travel wrap or beach sarong.
Bonus: It comes with a handcrafted chunky oak bracelet by Roost, made in India of sustainably harvested wood. An Earth Day gift for just about any fashionista on your list.

Get it now: Lemlem cotton wrap and Roost bracelet, $165 at indigogivewell.com

Kangol straw hat
We’re major fans of “made in America” products, and what a bonus when they’re also sustainable and stylish. While we’ve owned Kangol hats for years, many of us didn’t realize that the Brit company has a line created on this side of the pond that includes several eco-friendly styles.
We’re topping off our spring and summer weekends with this classic fedora in of-the-moment pastel blue that’s handcrafted of high-quality natural straw made from sisal for added durability and dyed with all-natural organic pigments.

Get it now: Kangol ‘Bubble Player’ hat, $130 at kangolstore.com

Toms vegan shoes
Best known for its philanthropic “one to one” program, TOMS donates a pair of shoes to a child in need for every pair purchased.
But have you checked out the brand’s super-stylish line of vegan shoes made with absolutely no animal materials or byproducts?
This summery watercolor-floral print pair is made of pesticide-free cotton, organic canvas and recycled post-consumer plastics. With all the standout patterns going on in fashion, these kicks are a fast and planet-friendly way to instantly liven up all the basics in the closet.

Get it now: TOMS ‘Corbel Classics’ vegan shoes, $54 at toms.com

Eco swim by aqua green dress
This soft heathered jersey t-shirt dress doubles as a beach cover-up. Drawstring sides let you adjust how much, or how little, leg you show off, so you can go from modest to sexy in seconds.
The best part is that the fabric is made in the USA of one hundred percent recycled fibers. Beyond designing stylish, sustainable swimwear and cover-ups, Pennsylvania company Eco Swim also supports cleanups that remove thousands of pounds of trash from beaches and waterways.
In honor of Earth Day, the company is teaming up with Belk Department stores on April 21 for a cleanup in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Get it now: Eco Swim by Aqua Green tank dress/cover-up, $64 at everythingbutwater.com

New balance sneaker
Get your kicks in an eco-conscious form with these cute, sustainable sneakers from New Balance’s newSKY line.
The material on the shoe’s upper is made of recycled plastic bottles--about eight twenty-ounce bottles are used to make each pair. And we support every effort to reduce the number of plastic bottles chucked into landfills each year, which currently tops 51 billion.
The super light-weight sneaks' hot-pink accents and baseball-inspired stitching are just right for making the morning commute that little bit more stylish. Need one more excuse to splurge?
New Balance is the only major athletic footwear brand still making shoes in America.

Get it now: New Balance newSKY 01, $89.99 at shopnewbalance.com

Stella Mccartney sunglasses
In the fashion world, designer Stella McCartney is pretty much the queen of eco style.
Her most recent, planet-friendly accessory launch for spring features sustainable sunglasses, made of over 50% natural and renewable resources.
These slightly retro, oversized and rounded cat-eye frames are one of our favorite sunglasses shapes to wear right now. The unique mix of opaque and translucent bio-plastic is derived from natural materials like castor oil seeds and cellulose.
We have our sights set on this pair in pretty pinkish and purply berry tones.

Get it now: Stella McCartney sunglasses, $225 at stellamccartney.com

Camper wedge sandals
Wedges are spring’s “it” shoe, and we were ooohing and ahhhing over these cute sandals well before we knew that they are eco-friendly. How cool is the flash of neon orange trimming the heel?
Dubbed a clog-sandal hybrid, they’re made of vegetable-tanned leather and recycled materials.
Spanish footwear brand Camper has made it a mission to reduce waste and promote sustainability by introducing more styles each season that have an environmental twist, and we can’t wait to see what’s next, as they make some of the most fashionably green footwear around.

Get it now: Camper ‘Trampoline’ sandal, $200 at camper.com

Yala tees and onesies
How perfect is this tee-and-onesie combo for a new mom and her babe?
Particularly since it’s made of a 95% organic bamboo fabric that's entirely chemical-free and feels absolutely luxurious: velvety soft and ultra-sleek.
Not to mention that the nautical striped boatneck style is a wardrobe essential, and this one comes in fresh, unexpected color combinations like pink-and-white or taupe-and black.
We love that there’s a toddler line, too, so all the little ones can follow in Mommy’s green footsteps.

Get it now: Yala 'Bamboo Dreams Kai' tee, $58 at yaladesigns.com, and short-sleeve onesie, $28 at yaladesigns.com
